First I started with exercise, making it a regularly scheduled item right after dropping off the kids at school. Then, recently I switched to a low carb diet and lost 10 stubborn pounds. Through it all, I have always taken my daily vitamin and made sure my kids all take one. I am positive that this small effort has played a part in keeping my kids and I healthier overall.* Knowing my limits and taking smaller steps have gotten me to a healthier place in mind and body. “As a first year elementary school teacher, I started the year off feeling exhausted. I found that after school, I just wanted to sit on the couch and engage in hours of mindless television. “About five years ago, I did my first triathlon. Two of my girlfriends and I got the wild idea to do this, and we signed up for a female-friendly, first timer-friendly triathlon. Since that day, I've been hooked -- having now completed about 12 different triathlons, a couple of half-marathons, and a marathon. Supplementing my diet with vitamins helps me keep my body healthy, so that I can do all of the things that I want to do.* I work full time as a nurse, I am married (a year and a half!) and I'm continuing to challenge myself physically and mentally by training and competing in races. Although I'm not a premier athlete by any means, racing gives me motivation to keep my body strong and healthy.
