Herbs and spices can make otherwise mundane dishes and drinks come to life by providing and
enhancing both flavor and color. Experimentation and experience are the key ingredients to
rely on when it comes to developing a flair for using herbs.
The herbs described here are available in fresh and dried forms, with some fresh herbs
available year-round and most dried forms available year-round. When using dried herbs, be
aware that their flavor is usually more concentrated than that of fresh herbs and so the
quantity used may need to be adjusted accordingly.
